In this ever-changing world of technology, many multinational companies have set the standards for developing web based business tools and software. They are experts in creating novel approaches to solve modern day business problems and identify chances for long-term expansions. One such company that has made an impact with its notable contribution in the tech sector is Zoho.

Founded by Sridhar Vembu, this software company has grown on to become a global player in the industry. In this blog, we will uncover the entire journey of Sridhar, the 59th richest man in India, as per the list of Forbes 2020, and discuss how he managed to gain such a huge success.

How Did It Begin?

The incredible success story of Zoho starts with its founder – Sridhar Vembu’s modest upbringing in Tamil Nadu. Hailing from a middle class family, Vembu had seen several struggling days in his early life. Despite this, he completed his electrical engineering from IIT Madras in 1989 and then went on to pursue a Ph.D. in the United States.

After earning his degree, Vembu worked for 2 years at Qualcomm in San Diego. However, when everything was going pretty well for Sridhar in the US, he decided to come back to India. His family and friends were shocked on his brave return to the country as Sridhar was living a comfortable life in San Diego.

After coming back to India, driven by a visionary mindset, Vembu and his brother co-founded AdventNet in India, a software development company. Later on, in 2009, this venture developed into the well-known Zoho Corporation. With Zoho, Vembu aims to help small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in India by offering a wide range of services – from customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software to effective tools for enhancing productivity and teamwork.

Obstacles In The Road

Zoho Corporation has had an intriguing journey so far. The software company had to face several challenges to establish their name in the market. Following the 2001 tech bubble burst, a lot of companies faced difficulties but Zoho’s experience stood out.

However, amidst the fallout, the B2B company encountered a dearth of clients. The founders used a novel strategy in response to these problems. They emphasized on research and development, which resulted in the formation of the ground-breaking product ManageEngine.

Besides this, the Zoho team also started focusing on improving their sales and marketing strategies. By conquering these obstacles, Zoho was able to not only get past its immediate business issues but also set itself apart from other recession-stricken businesses and take the lead in the industry.

Success Of Zoho

Under the leadership of Sridhar Vembu, Zoho has now become a renowned provider of computer software and web-based business tools in India. The software company has more than 100 million users across 150 + countries. By providing integrated, end-to-end solutions that streamline operations and drive business growth, Zoho Corporation has differentiated itself from others and solidified its position as a leader in the software industry.

With a diverse suite of products, a passionate team of over 15,000 employees, and a commitment to empowering businesses to succeed, Zoho continues to innovate and redefine the future of work in the digital age. In 2021, Sridhar Vembu, founder of Zoho, was bestowed with the Padma Shri Award, one of India’s highest civilian honors, for his contributions to the trade and industry.
